with plenty of life, tech, business, and being human experience
That would be me and the author of these ramblings. I'm an artist who grew up winning awards drawing and painting but went to business school instead. Go figure. I grew up in the South and Midwest so manners, etiquette, and treating others with respect are very important to me. I started my career at the then world's top advertising agency, Leo Burnett in Chicago, working on well-known national brands like McDonald's Kids winning all kinds of awards across the advertising and marketing spectrum. I jumped into the world of startups as part of the original team that created "The Billboard Music Awards" that airs on network TV. I started and self-funded my own company – buzz boxx, ideas + products from the street – well before it was cool to do a startup. I was the first generation of high schoolers to code computers. I grew up on the Internet building my first e-commerce site in '96. Lately I've been consuming all kinds of studies about neuroscience and the effects of our digital usage and its impact on our society (not all good). Yeah, lots of mindless apps that aren't necessarily strengthening the relationships between us or helping us be a better society. Meaningful pixels are what I am all about. I genuinely enjoy people and believe my life's purpose is to make others smile and try to actually make the world a better place. I've learned over the decades that life really is too short – so be a good human being along the way.
Don is our whip-smart startup veteran and repeat resident of San Francisco. He's our go-to technologist and the person who expanded an initial idea into a whole new interaction and collaboration paradigm. Yes, he's the big part of the brains behind our vision as he'll gladly engage in a discussion about quantum entanglement, chaos theory and nonlinearity. Don has spent his career in Product Management deftly bridging the gap between customer needs and translating it so software engineers, developers, and coders can understand. Don is an exuberant thinker and doer with a work ethic that's second to none. Don started his career in international wholesale banking creating institutional software still used today. Don has successfully led global teams in software development at various Bay Area startups since the '80s which have included Logica, General Magic, Tandem Computers, Cogit, NextWave, Yellowpages.com, Black Hat Media, and BankServ. And if this isn't enough, Don is also one of the most genuine and nicest human beings you will ever meet.
